Costa Rica destinations are plentiful for those who are going to see this natural beauty of a country for the very first time. Costa Ricans love tourists, are very helpful and over 50% of the people speak English as a second language. Where to go and what to see? Here are some secret spots.
Costa Rica Destinations
When you first arrive in Costa Rica, it will likely be in San Jose, the capital. It is there you will get on another plane to your beach destination. But, it is a good idea to explore San Jose a little bit and spend the night.
Mercado Central
The Central Market is a Costa Rican treasure. This is where all Costa Ricans meet up to buy goods from farmers in the center of town. It is said that 20,000 people come through this market daily. Here you can buy all sorts of food, cheeses, spices, fish and so much more. It is popular even with the friendly, 3′ tall vultures that hang out wherever people typically drop food.
Pre-Columbian Gold Museum
A fascinating walk through ancient times is available at the Pre-Columbian Gold Museum. It is here you will find many versions of a gold trinket that looks to be a small airplane. This piece is frequently featured on the TV show “Ancient Aliens.” Allow a lot of time for browsing the beauty of pre-Columbian art in this museum below Plaza de la Cultura in San Jose, Costa Rica.
Hot Springs Dipping
Soak away all your touristy aches in the natural hot springs at Rincon de la Vieja Volcano. There are many “pools” that capture the volcanic heated mineral water at varied temperatures. You can also enjoy a volcanic mud bath to remove body toxins.
Tamarindo, Costa Rica
