Howley Family Vacation
We had a fabulous stay and our family of 8 adults and 4 teenage boys, had a wonderful time. The house was so well laid out, that we all had plenty of space and enjoyed the grounds and location immensely. The location was the cherry on top of the sundae. Golf carting to stores, restaurants, food trucks, grocery stores was so easy. Would highly recommend this home to others.

Stunning house, wonderful service, one inconvenience
We loved our time there. A beautiful facility inside and out; beautifully decorated. Staff kept it clean inside and out; great access to the beach. However we must bring up that the inconvenience of the access to the upstairs baths was not obvious in advance.

This place is amazing. The staff are friendly, helpful and excellent at what they do. The daily breakfasts were so good. Having the ocean next to us and the beautiful sunsets were wonderful. Everyone loved exploring the tide pools at low tide too. It was an unforgettable experience and staying at this property certainly made it even better.

Rafa was an amazing host! He was so helpful in the weeks leading up to it and then when we were there he was so responsive when we needed some help. He organized a chef to come to the house and gave us great recommendations for local fun! The house is extraordinary, you are on the ocean with a chill backyard setting. Highly recommend !

Great location with gorgeous sunsets
We traveled with six adults and six kids and had a great time at Casa de Luz. The house has a beautiful pool with easy access and views of the beach and sunset. Our group had plenty of room to spread out over the property. The house location was perfectly placed in Playa Langosta with easy access to Tamarindo via golf cart. Rafa our concierge took care of EVERYTHING. Rafa was truly fantastic, and we would highly recommend this property and asking form him to help with your vacation. He made everything at the house seamless, including transportation to & from the airport, golf carts delivered to the house, grocery delivery, meals prepared at the house (including freshly caught mahi-mahi that he also helped book the offshore charter), coordinating with the pool and cleaning staff, zip line tours, etc. We look forward to returning soon!

Villa with beautiful sunsets
We celebrated my parent’s 50th anniversary in this villa. There were 15 of us in the house for the week and the house mom’s were incredible. It was very nice to have breakfast cooked and the villa cleaned every morning. We did have issues with the washing machine and Rafa and his crew repaired the issue next day. Then the washer broke again that night and they brought us a replacement. My family and I did not get our luggage so the washing machine was very important to us. The location is fantastic and a short walk along the beach or street to the main beach. I would recommend this villa and we plan to be back sometime in the future.

Casa de Luz is a beautiful home with an amazing view. The sunset view is unbeatable. Very spacious house with plenty of room for a large group. Rafa our concierge was very helpful. You can walk to town but renting golf carts would be better. The kitchen is large and easy to cook in. Everyone we dealt with was friendly and polite.

A perfect vacation home
Our group really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful, spacious, and well-appointed, Casa De Luz. The home provided the right amount of privacy and connectedness. The kids loved the bunkroom and the coupes were happy to have en suite bathrooms/bedrooms with spacious closets. The grounds are stunning and the outdoor spaces were perfect for socializing, have morning coffees/afternoon cocktails while listening to the waves crashing against the beach. The beach itself is not great for swimming but excellent for exploring the tide pools and just chilling. We could walk in either direction and access swimmable beaches. The end to end service from the US-basedbooking team through to the onsite concierge service (thank you Rafa) ensured that all of our needs from transportation through to tours, surf lessons and kayaking were taken of. Rafa also helped us book golf carts which were so much more convenient to get around to beaches, shopping etc. than driving. Our house mom arrived early everyday , prepared breakfast for our larger group and kept the house tidy and clean. I also highly recommend Patricia to cook evening meals. Delicious food, she does all of the shopping and prepares multi course meals that include desserts. A perfect vacation home.

The place is like a palace!
The place is like a palace! The rooms are huge and the sound of the ocean can be heard from every room with the window open. The guest house is even better because it has its own kitchen so you can have complete privacy if you’d like! The pool is warm. And the ocean is less than 50 yards from the house! It is a part of the ocean with great tidepools and calm warm water when the tide is out. Truly felt magical!

Casa De luz is breathtaking, plain and simple. The house is beautiful inside and out. It is roomy, spacious, well designed, and could not be in a more perfect location. Right on the beach/ocean with front-row seats to sunset every evening, this house checks every single box. Plenty of bedrooms, beds, and bathrooms for our group of 14. The kitchen is large and well-equipped. The views out of the back fo the house from the back porch and the infinity pool are unparalleled. Security is great, as are the house staff and concierge. The concierge is very responsive and helpful with not only recommendations, but also with arranging activities, reservations, and everything in between.

Everyone in our group was pleasantly surprised
We came to Casa De Luz not knowing what to expect as a majority of our group (17) had never been to Costa Rica. Everyone in our group was pleasantly surprised with the abundance of activities in the area including: fishing, Ziplining, exploring, spa day, catamaran rides and countless restaurants & bars to choose from. The staff was excellent with numerous recommendations, accommodations, & upmost customer service. There were in house chefs, cleaning services, and several arrangements made by our property manager & concierge. We could not have asked for a better experience and staff to make our Costa Rica trip an unforgettable trip.

“Great location and place to stay for 14 people”
The house exceeded all of our expectations. We had a group of 14 that were scheduled to come down in 2020 for a destination wedding but had to cancel. Rescheduled for December of 2021 with with the same group. The house worked great for everyone, the pool area was one of the most used areas. If we wanted to stay in for a meal the kitchen had everything that we needed. We rented golf carts which made it easy to go into Tamarindo. The service provided by Rafa Villegas from Stay in Tamarindo was 5 stars. If you are looking for a great place to stay with a bigger group I would highly recommend Casa De Luz

“Luxury with an ocean view!!”
We loved our stay at Casa De Luz, it was gorgeous, listening to the ocean, seeing the sunrise and magnificent sunsets in luxury. The Villa is amazing with large bedrooms, beautiful property with a pool, ocean front and spacious common area. Located a few minutes out of Tamarindo we rented golf carts for our stay to go back and forth. Our concierge Rafa went out of his way to meet all our requests and there were a lot! He was so wonderful! We also had the in-house chef Patricia come twice during our stay, one time to cook the mahi-mahi caught that day! We used Stay in Tamarindo for all our transportation and tours. Our entire group took the Waterfall Tour with Eddy who was knowledgable and amazingly accommodating us. The Coffee, Chocolate and Sugarcane tour was a lot of fun too, we ate our way through it! Stay in Tamarindo took care of all our needs. We even had massages at the Villa while listening to the ocean! Could not get better than that!

“Casa De Luz – Fantastic!!!”
Casa De Luz is impeccable! The house itself is super spacious, with great separation between rooms. Furnishings and decor are super tasteful / elegant, and amenities abound. The pool area and access to beach are fantastic – incredible sunset views every night. At low tide, the tide pools out front are some of the best I’ve seen for chilling out and exploring. The support staff quietly attends to the house and guests where needed. Just a well run operation. If you are a surfer, the river mouth break and beach break just down the beach are excellent. At higher tides, you can surf out from past the reef. We are trying to figure out when we are coming back!!!

“Amazing house. Top level service!”
Simply amazing! The spectacular beachfront house makes you want to spend the whole day there. Luckily, Aly the concierge kept us informed since the weeks prior to our arrival, about the many activities available around the area. She booked us an amazing catamaran afternoon, which the whole party loved. Weeks before our arrival, Aly was already suggesting the best plans for our group, asking about arrivals in case they needed to coordinate transportation directly from the airport, etc. We got to the house a few hours before official check-in time; however, Aly was able to let us in so we could settle in. She was worried that the house was not going to be perfectly clean as they normally are when parties check in; however, she always provided us with amazing flexibility which made our stay much easier all around. The rooms, beddings, and house areas in general are very ample, comfortable, and the pool area is simply stunning. It doesn’t matter where you’ve been around the world, you’ll find this house stunning. We were 15 people and our stay was extremely comfortable, we could have easily been 20+ comfortably. Harvy the caretaker was always looking to help in anything we needed, and the lady that cooked us breakfast everyday was excellent. She cooked us amazing breakfasts and cleaned the house for the first half of the day. All around an amazing experience. Will be back for sure! “Magical Wedding Venue”
We selected this house, sight unseen, for our wedding of 65 people. We used the house for our wedding party and the beachfront for the ceremony, and the patio/pool area for the reception. It was absolutely perfect. Plenty of room, gorgeous backdrops, a built in bar, a kitchen that our caterer adored. From a planning perspective, we used Kristina from Perennial Weddings – her, paired with Aly (casa de luz’s incredible concierge) made this as stress free as possible. Aly went above and beyond, answering a litany of questions at the drop of a dime, finding babysitters and transportation for our entire group (even those not staying in the house), wow! I will say for a wedding, absolutely try to book the boutique hotel Sueno Del Mar next door as well – as there was another event being held there at the same time. It ended up not being an issue, but the grounds do peek in on each other and the sound was definitely overlapping.
The space itself is much bigger in person. Loved the beach bungalow, the beachfront, the pool. The layout however is a bit odd and lends itself much better to families than say 8 separate couples. The bunk room upstairs does not have its own entrance/exit, needing to exit through the master bedroom or the room with the couches.
The furniture and design were a bit dated, but they were making updates even as we arrived (a breathtaking new artist-designed dining table and chandelier). As far as the wedding went, it just made the space feel really welcoming and approachable vs. a starkly modern home.
We didn’t take advantage of the breakfast prep, but the staff was always prompt and friendly.
Can’t recommend this place enough. For venue and accommodations it was the most magical backdrop we could have imagined.

“Wonderful group accommodations!”
2020 marked our second year at Casa de Luz for our group of business managers. The concierge, Aly was instrumental again in making sure we had all of our plans in order including the on-site chef, ground transportation, excursions and golf cart rental. The housekeeping and grounds-keeping team somehow keep everything beautiful while being practically invisible.
We love our time in quiet and peaceful Playa Langosta and being an easy golf cart ride from the activity in Tamarindo is a great benefit is well.

“Great family vacation spot”
We had a wonderful time as a family of 19 at casa de luz. From age 3 to 75 our family loved the sunsets everyday and the convenience to town and the beaches. The location and access to all Tamarindo has to offer is perfect. Aly the house manager was fantastic and made our trip so easy and enjoyable. “Perfect destination wedding location!”
Casa De Luz was the absolute PERFECT location for our destination wedding! Our group of 15 spent the days leading up to the event hanging by the pool, riding the golf cart into Tamarindo, exploring the beach, and eating some fantastic meals prepared by the Chef, Patricia, and her crew. The size of the outdoor space was so incredibly perfect for our intimate wedding – we had the ceremony on the flat beach space out front and the reception by the pool – so stunning!
Aly went above and beyond in helping us prepare for this trip! She coordinated transportation, arranged for golf carts and excursions, and was so quick to reply to the numerous questions we asked as we prepared for our trip. She was attentive and so easy to communicate with!
If we travel back to the area, we will absolutely stay at Casa de Luz again! Thanks for such a wonderful memory!

“The most magical experience!”
I don’t even know where to start! I just had my wedding here at Casa de Luz and it was extraordinary. Everything was perfect. When we initially decided on this location we went over there and toured the house and were lucky enough to have met the owner while we were there and got a full first hand tour from him directly. His passion about the location was infectious and he really helped paint a picture for us of how our wedding would go there. Everyone that assisted us was great – Kate and Aly from Stay in Tamarindo were so helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. We stayed 3 nights with our wedding party and it was the best! As a venue for the ceremony and the reception there really wouldn’t be anywhere more perfect. It’s beautiful, clean, well taken care of, the house staff are lovely, space is great. I could go on and on about how much I love this house but I will finish with this – just book it. You will not be disappointed.

“Great Family Bonding and Getaway”
The location is absolutely amazing- the view is fabulous, with the pool and the beach at your doorstep. Our party of 17 thoroughly enjoyed the nearby restaurants, activities and just spending time together having fun. The large dining tables are perfect for games and poker! Patricia, our cook provided the most amazing meals for us, and we always had lots of left overs. Would highly recommend for any large family group.

“Casa De Luz is perfect family retreat”
Casa de Luz was the perfect venue for our large family of 20!!! From the pool, to the tide pools on the beach we couldn’t ask for a better place to enjoy each other. The staff was very accommodating and the chef made several different types of delicious food, even accommodating our littles ones. The BBQ night was the highlight.
We also celebrated my sister’s engagement and the staff went above and beyond to help make the celebration magical. From mariachis to local passion fruit margaritas, it was all top notch!
A big thank you to Aly who helped coordinate all our different family activities. The private sunset catamaran tour was the most spectacular.

“Big Family loved this Big House Summer 2019”
Amazing house, tons of room, concierge, Aly was a huge help. Only bad was power went out for a few minutes every day and wifi had to be reset. Housekeeping was great. 4 separate masters are all good, and separate pool house and guard house are good as well. We had a few families, 16 people total, 8 adults, 8 kids. We had room to spare. Beach is fun to explore but too rocky to swim. Golfcarts are great to get Tamarindo. Town was safe and fun, surf lessons were great. Tons of great restaurants and t-shirt shops. We have rented houses and done big family vacations in many spots, Bahamas, all-inclusive Mexico in Cancun, Disney, crusies, etc. This was our absolute favorite.

“Spring Break 2019”
We had such a great time at Casa de Luz with 3 other families for Spring Break! Aly and the staff was extremely friendly and so accommodating to all of our requests. “Perfect Getaway for a large group!”
We recently stayed at the Case de Luz for a week long stay with two other families. Being our first time in the country, we knew very little about what to do, where to go or what to expect. First off, the pictures don’t do this home justice… it’s very spacious and a great layout for 3-4 families! Plenty of room for kids and for adults, as well as great spaces for everyone to be together. The beach access gave us amazing walks in the morning, exploring tide pools in the afternoon, and front row seats every night to gorgeous sunsets. The location itself, being just less than a mile from Tamarindo in Langoste was perfect… just far enough away from center of town to feel away from it all, but close enough for quick trips in and out.
However, the best feature of the home is Aly, their dedicated concierge. She was instrumental with every aspect of our trip… setting up in-home chef, arranging for all transportation, ensuring we made reservations for different activities well in advance, and just giving us a sense of comfort before ever setting foot in their wonderful country. She was extremely easy to work with, attentive to every detail, and patient with our 1,000 questions.

“Amazing Stay”
We were so lucky to have found this beautiful rental for our wedding in Costa Rica. From the moment we inquired until check out Aly the concierge was amazing she not only gave us great recommendations but she also helped plan excursions and dinners for our guests staying in the house and even those who stayed at nearby rentals. She was beyond helpful & pleasure to work with can’t say enough good things about her and this home! We had such a fun vacation and wedding, this Home was the perfect setting with the pool and the location is perfect! The home also came with a housekeeper and she did such an amazing job keeping everything tidy and was so sweet!

“Great house for a large group”
Casa de Luz was the perfect house for me and nine of my friends to celebrate our birthdays. The house was spacious enough for everyone to have their own room, but small enough so everyone still felt part of the group where ever they were in the house. The shining star with this house is definitely the pool and the access to the water. We literally spent every day in that beautiful backyard. And there was so much wildlife we got to see from the comfort of our own pool! Iguanas, howler monkeys, and the occasional raccoon and skunk all made their way through the backyard at one point or another. The house staff were so kind and attentive. Aly, the house concierge, was amazing and so helpful while planning this getaway. She has great recommendations for excursions and restaurants, and never let us down. I highly recommend booking Patricia, the cook, for a few meals. She makes plenty of food for leftovers, and we were always stuffed to the brim with her delicious meals – my personal favorite was her ceviche.
If I had any “complaints” it would be that they were doing some work on the house while we were there and we had what seemed like a lot of workers coming in and out of the property. Also, I was a little disappointed to find out that the house didn’t come with pool toys. Luckily the party before us left a couple we got to use. All that being said, this vacation was such an amazing trip, none of us wanted to go home. I will definitely be back to Costa Rica, and if possible would love to stay at Casa de Luz again.

“We’ll Be Back!!”
We had an amazing time at Casa de Luz and will definitely be coming back. 15 friends stayed here to celebrate a milestone birthday. Aly did an outstanding job of managing every detail of our trip from airport transfers, to lunch/dinner reservations, to excursions, etc. Per her recommendation, we hired a private chef who made breakfast for us every morning and dinner most nights. The food was 5-star at a very reasonable rate (much cheaper than going out). The house staff were very professional and friendly. The sunsets stunning every night and the location unbeatable; right on the beach and close to town. A definite must visit!

“Better than the pictures!”
Wow, I cannot describe in words how beautiful casa de luz was! All the rooms, the view from the pool as well as the amenities and everything in between was phenomenal. The pictures are beautiful but seeing casa de luz for yourself is a different story! Our concierge aly was amazing! She booked things super quick, even last minute. And was on top of any concerns or questions we had about the house. Our friends and family stayed for 4 days, wish it could have been longer. We held our wedding dinner in casa de luz near the pool, the view of the sunset and table overlooking the beach was so beautiful. I 100% recommend casa de luz for any occasion!

“Must return to Casa de la Cruz”
ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND Casa de la Cruz!! beautiful home right on the beach. Amazing views. The monkeys and iguanas were right in our backyard, there was even a Bengal cat and a raccoon we made friends with. My fiance and I took 3 other families for a total of 14 people – 6 children ranging from 5 to 10 years old. There was more Than enough room for us all. The concier, Aly was wonderful at booking excursions answering questions and keeoing us up-to-date on things we should know. The chefs were amazing if you’re a big family/group, this is an absolute must(it’s worth the extra cost)! They made delicious food and cleaned everything up afterwards. The maid was wonderful too – she actually did our laundry, it was magical. The beach was a short walk to get to the soft sand where we could surf and boogie board and the town is rigbt there for shopping and resturants…
We absolutely will return to costa rica. The people were all kind and generous. The jungle cruz and the sailing excursions were a fabulous way to see and explore. More of costa rica..

“Great for family/friends groups!”
On our first trip to Costa Rica, Tamarindo was our first stop. What a terrific way to start our vacation. The house was amazing. It\’s beautiful and spacious and we loved the amenities. The proximity to the beach and tide pools was incredible. Every direction you looked you saw beauty. Loved having the Howler Monkeys so close though some thought their howling started a little too early ?
We were a group of 14 with a variety of ages from early 20s to 60+ and everyone found things they liked to do. We had rented golf carts to get into town (Tamarindo) and this made all our plans work out well. While the pot holes are pretty bad I actually thought that it added to the rustic semblance of an arguably touristy region. The house’s concierge Aly was super helpful and friendly and Patricia was an exemplary cook. Many fond memories of Casa de Luz!

“Of Heaven”
Our group of 15 (8 adults/7teens) spent a week at Casa de Luz. What an amazing experience. Everything was seamless, from booking to airport transfers to our excursions. Aly made sure of that. The house is spacious, clean, safe and is in such a beautiful spot. I couldn’t take my eyes off the view when I first arrived. The staff was awesome, even my laundry was done for me. Cook Patricia is a gem. The infinity pool was perfect, and the grounds are lush and teeming with wildlife. We enjoyed seeing howler monkeys roaming in the branches above us, iguanas and beautiful birds. The sunsets each night were spectacular on our quiet little stretch of sandy beach. We had breakfast a couple of mornings at the hotel next door. The kids were the happiest I’ve ever seen them. So much to do they were never bored. This vacation will be hard to beat. “Great house, great location and great for groups”
We rented Casa de Luz for my 50th birthday party. We were originally scheduled to go to the Virgin Islands but mother nature cancelled those plans with back to back hurricanes which left us scrambling for a plan B. Everyone we dealt with from the booking representative Kate to Aly the concierge was great. They definitely turned “plan B” into “plan A” The house is in a great location as it is far enough from the main town to afford some privacy but close enough to walk or take a cab for $5. The beach was fascinating. With the rock formations and tidal pools created at low tide, there was something new to see every day and the sunsets were gorgeous. The house itself offers privacy to everyone while at the same time providing lots of opportunity for group activities. There were six couples and we were very comfortable. The pool was a big hit with everyone and was big enough for everyone without feeling crowded. Cook Patricia was amazing. She cooked breakfast for us most days and did two of the best dinners we had. So yummy! Aly was also great in helping arrange transportation, adventure tours and dinner reservations. She also did a great job in helping set up a DJ at the house for our birthday party. What a fun and memorable evening. Overall, great experience and we can’t wait to go back.

Casa de Luz far exceeded my expectations! We rented the property for the family to stay at and to hold our wedding at. The beach was perfect for the ceremony, and the pool deck was fantastic for the reception! We had 40 guests and there was ample space for everyone that evening. I particularly enjoyed that the pool is not chlorine but ozanation, making the water more gentle on sensitive skin. All and all if i ever have a need for a large casa again we will be back to Casa de Luz for sure! Not to mention that Aly was fantastic and extremely helpful with anything I needed as a nervous bride with last minute needs and guestions.

The house and the location were beautiful. The pool and the private beach area were absolutely perfect. I loved being able to wake up and take my coffee to the beach without ever having to leave the property. Langosta is also far enough from town that it is peaceful and quiet. It was a bit too far to walk conveniently, so we rented a golf cart which was great.
Our concierge was named Aly and she was awesome. So helpful!! We were in Tamarindo for our wedding and she helped with coordinating travel for a guests and so much more. Loved her!

came for my 40th birthday with 20 people – 11 adults and 9 kids. It was so perfect because we each had our own bedroom with full bathroom. Everything in this house is well thought out and in superb condition. We had been traveling prior and it was so refreshing and relaxing to come here and have it all taken care of. The housekeeping service daily was fantastic! We even hired a cook to come for breakfast and dinner which made it easier to relax and not worry about cooking and cleaning. The excursions booked by Aly were perfect and we ended with couples massages at the house overlooking the beach. I would love to come back one day. I cannot think of one flaw with this house and service. Oh and it’s not mentioned much but the snorkeling right outside is the best in Tamarindo. When the tide is low, we went out with the kids and could touch so it made it easy to teach them how to snorkel. We saw a variety of fish, eels and octopus.

I’ve been traveling down to CR for several years and this is one of the best villas we’ve rented. Its far enough from town to have some peace and quiet, but close enough that it wasn’t a chore to venture in. I recommend it for anyone! During low tide, you can even stroll into town via the beach, but I’m certain its impossible during high tide.
The grounds were clean and safe and we had no issues at all. The gate to the property locks at night and the car and personal items in the house were of no concern. The beach was pristine and the sunsets were perfectly amazing.
We received the chef service for two meals each day and they were great! They even accommodated for the food allergies! (Celiacs take note) For our dinners in town, Aly took care of us with recommendations and we found those restaurants superb.
It was a great visit and I will consider another trip in the future.

My wife and I took her entire family to Tamarindo over New Years. The house was great and plenty of room. It is not on a sandy beach but rather volcanic rock. There are many tide pools during low tide to explore and the kids loved it. The staff at the house was exceptional. we hired in Patricia to cook 2 breakfast’s and dinners and all were excellent! Aly was a great help setting everything up from Patricia to excursions and everything in between. we had 15 people and were comfortable. It states it can sleep 23 but that would be tight. For a large group I would recommend this property.

This was, without a doubt, one of the best vacation experiences we have ever had. From the very beginning Aly, the house concierge, was amazing and extremely helpful. She was always available and helped with everything that we needed from dinner recommendations to arranging for zip lining, fishing, etc. She certainly knows her way around Tamarindo!
I have to say that the description of the house does not make it justice. It is so much more amazing than we were expecting! We had a group of 19 and never felt cramped. The location, decor, amenities , etc were all top notch. Cesar and Zaida, the house staff, were there every day to keep the place spotless and to help with anything we needed. Truly amazing people.
The only problem is that we didn’t want to leave!! We will definitely find our way back there in the future.

I have arranged many family vacations over the years, but this was by far the best. The property was so beautiful–the pictures are accurate. The weather, even though it was supposed to be the rainy season–was perfect. Our concierge, Aly, was so accommodating and professional. Her advice for excursions, spa treatments, etc was so helpful. The people that cleaned the house and the pool area every day were fantastic–you didn’t even know they were in the house. And we never did figure out how she knew what clothes went in what room–but she did overtime. Patricia, her husband and son fixed some fantastic dinners for us and were so pleasant. All in all, I couldn’t find one possible complaint. Can’t wait to go back!

Cristina, Gilda, Lucas and the rest of the staff at Las Mareas Villas were excellent and accommodating hosts, and made us feel very welcome during our stay. The facility was under 24 hour watch with security monitoring the gate leading up to the villas at all times. The staff was always pleasant and helpful, setting us up with excellent drivers to take us around on tours of the surrounding area. They even arranged to have multiple golf carts delivered to our rooms within an hour of requesting them. The houses we rented were as advertised, if not better. The view from the master suite and pool area are enough to encourage you not to leave and explore the beaches and town of Tamarindo. The rooms and appliances were in immaculate condition, and the internet worked well, even with over a dozen connected devices streaming music, posting to social media and checking emails. The infinity pool accommodated a large group of 20 people easily, and the grill was an excellent way to enjoy dinner and the Costa Rican sunset from our villas. To ensure that you have a great time, I would absolutely recommend renting golf carts (or some other type of vehicle) to get up and down the hill to the villas to town, as that can prove a laborious task in the Costa Rican heat. All in all, an excellent experience – highly recommended!

“I stayed at Casa de Luz with my entire family and some extended family”
I stayed at Casa de Luz with my entire family and some extended family – siblings with young children, parents, uncle, and 85 year old grandmother. The bedrooms in the house were spacious and the 4 little kids (two 6 year olds, two 3 year olds) were all housed comfortably in the bunk room between the upstairs bedrooms; perfect for keeping an eye on them and still giving them their own space to go crazy.
The downstairs bedrooms were basically two master suites, and then there were TWO separate apartments: the pool cabana and the front apartment in the courtyard, great for giving a couple their privacy or one person his or her own place to retreat to. The outdoor pool and sitting area provided plenty of room to pass the time, read, or chat in the evenings while watching the tide roll in to amazing sunsets. Howler monkeys were regularly in the trees on the grounds throughout our stay, giving us the feeling like we were sleeping in the jungle even though the place was so luxurious.
The ONLY drawback was that walking to a surf-able beach took about 15-20 minutes, but this too could be seen as an asset, as we didn’t have to deal with gawkers or a highly trafficked beach area right outside our patio.
This is an amazing place. The pictures don’t do it justice. Stay here!

We celebrated a bunch of 40 year old birthdays by renting this beautiful oceanfront home for five families. The home was wonderfully spacious, the pool was amazing and the rocky oceanfront provided hours of tide-pool viewing and snorkeling fun. We had a group of 10 adults and 10 kids, 4 of which were under 1 year old. The house worked perfectly for us. The bigger kids all enjoyed sleeping in the bunk room (which sleeps 6 kids comfortably). Aly, the house manager, was quick to respond to our questions and needs. She even lent us her DVD player as the one at the house was being replaced. The short drive to town was convenient for when we wanted to go get ice cream and swim at beautiful sandy beach. The walk to the sandy beach was about 20 min but was a very easy walk along the ocean. I highly recommend Casa de Luz. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

We booked Casa de Luz with 4 families for spring break and it was amazing. Adults and kids ages 6 – 14, all had the time of their life! The house was amazing (the pictures don’t even do it justice), the concierge really helped to organize and book great activities and restaurants! Our whole party learned to surf, loved walking on the beach in front of the house and watching sunset, enjoyed swimming in the pool from morning till night, and just hung out with friends. It was a great combination of adventure and relaxation. We will definitely be back!

“Just returned from a wonderful week.”
Just returned from a wonderful week. Our penthouse unit was perfect for our group. We were celebrating our sons 50th birthday. He brought a friend with him to enjoy some of the activities in Costa Rica. The constant sound of the ocean will be missed. The apartment is well equipped and quite comfortable. One suggestion to the owner would be to have flash lights in the 3 bedrooms should the power go out which is common in Costa Rica. We lost power only once for a couple of hours. Cleaning service came twice during our stay which was an unexpected bonus. Security is very tight within our complex…guards on duty 24/7… The pool area is great place to meet other guests and owners who will share with you best of tours to take. Rental agency can arrange all the tours. I do think a car is a must since town is more than a mile down a dirt road…cab costs $5 should you not have a car. All and all we loved the location of this unit and would stay there again.

This was my 2nd stay at Casa De Luz. I find this house to be a great blend of the service that you would expect at a 4 star hotel and the comfort of being in your place. First the location is fantastic. It’s on the beach. The view from the pool can’t be beat. At the end of the day I would often just spend an hour or more hanging out in the pool looking at the beach as the sun sets. You can walk to town along the beach, never even stepping on a road. To be fair, to comfortably go swimming you do have to walk ~10min in either direction from the house. I like to run and I could do beach runs in either direction. Running south and crossing the river I had twice had a stretch of beach all to myself as far as I could see.
One thing that really made staying at the house great was Aly, the concierge. Not only could she recommend the best tours but she made sure you got the best guides on the best tours. She arranged for tour pickups, rental car drop offs etc at the house. If anything isn’t going right she follows through to straightens it out. For food we used all the options, we did cooking ourselves several nights, had a chef come in and cook for us another night, had food delivered from the local restaurants and of course went into Tamarindo for several delicious dinners at restaurants she recommended. We also went next door for tasty and relaxed breakfast at the Sueño del Mar B&B.
This last time I stayed in the pool casita. The bed faces the ocean through a large glass doors and you could hear the waves breaking as you went to sleep. Couldn’t think of a more ideal place.
Between the concierge, pool, optional cook, along with the daily maid service, we had all the services you would get at hotel and with all the comfort and space of being in your own house on the beach. Just loved it.

Walking into Casa De Luz we were greeted by Ally, our concierge. She arranged our travel from the airport, had the fridge stocked with items for a late arrival snack and took the time to show us the house, all that was available and stay longer to help us plan our stay. She recommended and arranged tours that suited our group perfectly. Case De Luz is elegant comfort. All of the rooms are spacious, elegant comfort and quiet. We had beachfront view and a spectacular nightly sunset. You could take a 15 min walk into town along the beach playing tag with the waves. Nightly swims in the pool after dinner either at home or in one of the local restaurants. Daily housekeeping and groundskeeper service allowing you to feel like you were on vacation at your own home. Casa De Luz, Ally and the team exceeded my expectations.

We just returned from the most spectacular week at Case De Luz. My husband and myself took our 5 children(ages 19-26) and a friend and significant others(10 people total). The week was nothing short of magnificent! The house was everything we hoped, beautiful, clean, comfortable and roomy, with enough space for everyone plus plenty of indoor and outdoor relaxing space. Included was a housekeeper who came daily to clean and exchange towels etc. the pool was beautiful, we brought down rafts and tubes and thoroughly enjoyed using them in the pool and ocean(and left them for others to enjoy after we left. The beach, although rocky was still great to swim and use the boogie boards…water shoes are a must though at the house, while the Tamarindo beach is rock free! Aly, the fabulous concierge that I emailed for months to help plan all the perfect activities for us all to enjoy. I can’t say enough about her knowledge and professionalism. She was a pleasure to work with and made sure we had everything we needed including stocking the house with food prior to our arrival, restaurant recommendations and the best activities with the best companies in Tamarindo.
We were smart enough to have Patricia and her wonderful husband Diego cook for us 6 out of the 7 nights and breakfast on our departing day. The best decision we made(besides picking this house!)The food was fabulous, we all ate like kings! They will take allergies, likes, dislikes etc. into consideration but it was easy since we all eat everything, but options were made for 2 with lactose intolerance. They were a pleasure to have in the house and we not only loved the food but they were very lovely and professional. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip. Best family vacation ever. Can’t rave enough about everything!!!

We were a multigenerational family of nine and this was the best trip any of us have ever been on! We travel frequently as we are in the tourism business and we welcome guests from all over the world. This experience was great empathy training! It felt like Christmas morning everyday waking up in this beautiful home, listening to the surf and hearing the howler monkeys. The house was very spacious and well appointed and although it was a large home (8000 square ft), it felt very cosy for our family due to the many communal gathering places throughout. We enjoyed meals in that were specially prepared by Cook Patricia which always included the most amazing guacamole to start. Deep sea fishing resulted in a mahi mahi feast including fish tacos and ceviche. Daily house staff were friendly and helpful and our concierge, Alyssa, ensured that ever detail was perfectly attended to. She shared her local knowledge with us and also made arrangements for zip lining, a catamaran cruise, and an estuary boat cruise. We enjoyed breakfast next door at the B & B and a few meals out in town which were always fantastic. Surf lessons, stand up paddle boarding, body surfing and beach walks were just a few of the highlights. Pictures do not truly capture the magnificence of this property or the experiences you’ll have. It is well situated between Playas Tamarindo and Langosta. We had a rental car, which we found helpful but the property is within walking distance to town. Grandma and Grandpa are still raving about the holiday and the kids (all cousins ages 6,10, 14, 18 and 22) are looking forward to when we can visit again. We were there just at the end of rainy season and the canopy was lush and green with daily temperatures at 29C. Can’t beat the heat, the beach, the surf and the friendly Costa Rican people. We are looking forward to visiting again and enjoying more adventures.

“I cannot even begin to explain how wonderful the trip was!”
I cannot even begin to explain how wonderful the trip was! I have stayed in resorts and private estates all over the world, but this was my first trip to Costa Rica and I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect. We were a group of 4 couples with 3 kids. We weren’t sure if we should just stay at a resort or rent a private beach house instead. We were clueless! SO GLAD we chose Casa de Luz. Staying at Casa de Luz is like having your own private resort! Nothing beats the sunsets and hanging out by the gorgeous infinity pool! The house is so spacious, well laid out and gorgeous. The service was amazing, the concierge arranged all kinds of fun tours! The kids can’t stop talking about going back!
The bottom line is you cannot go wrong! It is worth it! I am going to go back every year for vacation!

We spent a week at Casa de Luz over spring break. I wasn’t sure about taking three young kids with special medical needs and food allergies to a country where food safety can be an issue, but it worked out wonderfully with three meals a day prepared for us in the house according to our needs! The house was very nice, perfect for a family, but also a larger group or several couples, as the rooms are so spread out and private. We enjoyed the ocean views, and spent many afternoons and early evenings just lounging around in the hammock and beach chairs. The sunsets were beautiful! The pool came in very handy as the ocean water is quite rough, although the low tide pools were very popular for swimming and finding ocean creatures. The kids spent hours playing with the hermit crabs. We made a day trip to explore the area, and took a tour another day, but were pleased to return to “paradise”. I highly recommend Casa de Luz as a vacation spot.

Our week at Casa De Luz could not have been better. We had two families and 6 kids ages 6-11. There was more than enough to to do. The concierge Aly made everything easy and teed us up first class. Surfing was awesome. Zip lining was unreal. Palo Verde river was OK. Food and hospitality were abundant. This is a must visit.

This spacious villa had more than enough space for our ten guests, affording privacy for the four adults and ample room to romp for the 6 kiddos. The beach access allowed for many pleasant walks along the shore and all the way into town. Aly the concierge was always available, and set us up for the very best activities in the vicinity. Daily housekeeping was exceptional, even did our laundry daily as well. Added bonus? Dozens of howler monkeys reside in the trees around the home. We would definitely stay here again

“I cannot say enough about this property meeting & exceeding our expectations.”
I cannot say enough about this property meeting & exceeding our expectations. We are a family of 9, consisting of grandchildren, 11 & 13, and our adult children. This house was perfect for all three generations. The location is far enough away from town to be peaceful, but close enough (5 min by car, 15-20 min walk) to take advantage of all the restaurants, grocery store & night life.
The property provides lots of space for everyone. My hubby & I chose to stay in the detached casita by the pool area, where we could enjoy a little “quiet time” on the back patio, not to mention the private outdoor shower. We were there when it was exceptionally hot & found the air-conditioning & ceiling fans to provide a comfortable temp to sleep. However, most of our time was spent outdoors…either in the pool, sitting on the beach or up on the patio area off the main house.
This house easily handled our family, but it should be noted that if you are planning on sharing with another family or two, not all 6 bedrooms are of equal size. There is the aforementioned casita, with its own kitchenette, sitting area & queen bed. There are 2 king & 2 queen suites in the main house that are very roomy & well appointed. The 6th room, however, is very small & located off the front courtyard. While it does have its own bathroom, it’s really not suitable for a child, nor is it large enough for a couple.
In addition to an amazing property, you get the services of the best concierge. Aly is the “go to” gal for everything you need to help make your vacation go smoothly …and she does it all with a graciousness that makes you feel as if you’ve known her forever. Communication prior to our arrival was handled promptly & she was available via phone/text while we were in CR. The activities were great, but the highlight had to be the dinner prepared for us at the house by local chef, Patricia. In fact, we ended up requesting her for a 2nd night & were lucky enough that she was available. Such a treat to eat a delicious meal without leaving our home away from home.
I’d also recommend the B&B next door for a wonderful breakfast. Just walk out to the beach & turn right.
Can’t wait to return to Costa Rica & will choose to stay at Casa de Luz again.
